'Social Sciences and Humanities': Pilot course at BMS College of Engineering- Bangalore (2011) -

In the course of two weeks (from 12 to 26 July 2011) a group of 5 scholars from Ghent University Belgium, under the leadership of Prof. S.N. Balagangadhara, is teaching an experimental course on 'Social Sciences and Humanities' at the BMS College of Engineering.

Objectives:

The course is a first experiment to develop and introduce social science modules into the curricula of engineering and IT colleges in Karnataka. It is part of the objectives of the Academy of Social Sciences and Humanities that has been set up in Karnataka. The aim of this academy is to rejuvenate social sciences and humanities in Karnataka and in so doing tackle one of the major problems India is facing today: the one-dimensional nature of its higher education.
